Shanghai's Pudong and Hongqiao airports are expected to operate 130,000 flights, during this summer vacation, with an average daily passenger flow of 320,000 people – up 17 percent on the previous year.

Beijing, Chengdu, Guangzhou, Sanya, Urumqi are among popular domestic destinations. International flights to Japan, Thailand, the United Arab Emirates are projected to experience increasing popularity.

In anticipation, Shanghai's airports have also undertaken measures to accommodate passengers with mobility issues, such as providing unblocked public transportation access and special security check lanes.

To make flying easier for children, the airports have assigned special staff to escort children who fly alone. Both airports are being equipped with baby care rooms with various facilities. In addition, Pudong Airport is giving souvenirs to kids and Hongqiao Airport has set up three children's playgrounds at its terminals.

Moreover, Shanghai's airports are launching a series of commercial promotions. For example, Hongqiao Airport will offer various discount coupons. Some of the airport's restaurants have released airport exclusive products.

In addition, to provide a comfortable travel environment for passengers, the airports will adjust the temperature and humidity of the terminals dynamically according to the passenger flow. Spray cooling systems will be put into service at taxi ranks and heatstroke prevention products are available.

The Shanghai Airport ity has also prepared a plan for potential flight delays. The two airports will inform the public in advance through official channels and provide emergency services for stranded passengers. If necessary, they will cooperate with the traffic management department to evacuate and resettle passengers.
